Strategic partner for schools, foundations, and education innovators

I help mission-driven teams bring bold ideas to life with strong execution, deeper learning experiences, and measurable results.

Across more than 20 years in education, I’ve worked as a practitioner, a funder, and a founder – experience that gives me a unique perspective on how change really happens. I have led school turnarounds, developed networks of principals, managed a $100M+ grantee portfolio, and launched new ventures.

Clients hire me when they need a trusted thought partner who can see the big picture, navigate complexity, and move important work from idea to implementation. Whether the need is strategic planning, leadership development, change management, or impact analysis, I bring practical insight and steady execution.

Examples of my work:

  • Built cross-sector partnerships between a public school district, community college, and national nonprofit to establish a new dropout recovery program.

  • Led change management across a network of secondary schools, aligning structure, staffing, restorative practices, and data systems to improve culture and achievement.

  • Supported a portfolio of grantees implementing innovative high school designs, using site visits and interviews to strengthen technical assistance and investment impact.

  • Designed and launched a new international pre-K and kindergarten in Beijing with a Harvard Project Zero researcher.

What Clients Say

"Simply put, Sean is incredible and yes, I'm biased because I got to work alongside him and learn from him for nearly a year.

He has a calm and confident (yet humble!) leadership style, which makes him both approachable and effective. He's a thoughtful decision-maker and considers all perspectives when confronted with complex situations or tough calls to make. In that, he thinks through the long-term impact of decisions and doesn't rush to a quick fix.

He leveled-up several of our school systems because he considered the root causes and also knew time is the most precious resource in a school -- the more efficient we are, the more time we have for direct work with students and families.

He's also a people person, and his authentic and trusting relationships instill confidence in his leadership. He genuinely admires both the young people (students) and adults he works with -- folks who work alongside Sean feel deeply valued and seen.

His instructional expertise runs deep, and he has a wealth of curriculum, pedagogy, and programming knowledge.

Sean is highly accountable, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn. His skilled leadership is an asset to any organization."

Autumn

Autumn entered the world of education as an early childhood educator and fell in love with the field. She has always had a passion for working with children. Growing up she often took on mentor roles, such as teaching dance classes, and a summer job teaching children with learning disabilities to read. Recently, Autumn embarked on a new journey as a behavioral therapist for Mt. Diablo school district which has allowed her to explore a new way of facilitating learning.  She’s taking a sewing class because she would love to design her own clothes one day.

Darius

Darius started his education career working with the Boys and Girls club of Oakland teaching teens to become computer literate. Through this program he developed a passion for working with children. After completing a degree in psychology in Colorado he returned to California and began working with young children. This led him to return to school to earn his Early Childhood Education units to work as a classroom teacher. He is getting started on learning Spanish and on weekends is often meeting up with old college friends for basketball games.

Sean

Sean has taught and learned from students of many ages, from early childhood to early college programs, and as far away as New York and Beijing before returning home to Oakland. He is passionate about creating innovative learning communities, and is inspired by new ways we can use technology to improve how we learn and collaborate.  He is learning Mandarin and loves running in Redwood Regional Park and playing soccer with his son.
